While, it is possible, for a short – period, for groups, organizations, of public entities, to succeed, despite the direction and quality of their leaders, in the longer – term, the success, relevance, and sustainability, often/ generally, depends on the ability to conceive of, create, and implement, a well – considered, action plan, based on dedication, to professionally designed, strategic planning! In order to be a real leader, one must commit to following a quality PLAN, based on the specific needs, heritage, perceptions, and priorities, of the specific entity. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why this matters, and is important.

1. Priorities; phases; perceptions; planning; process: One must pay close attention, and effectively listen, and learn, what constituents need, and desire, and their perceptions, and focus on addressing these, consistently, and effectively! This must direct one, to emphasize, relevant priorities, in an effective, focused manner, and proceeding, in a realistic, relevant, sustainable, well – considered, way! The level of planning, must be based on proceeding, in a step – by – step, way, and phasing – in, the best approaches, strategies, and action plan! If one wishes to succeed, he must, consistently, respect and appreciate, the necessary process!

2. Listen; learn; leading: Instead of emphasizing the sound of their own voices (which, for many, is their favorite sound), great leaders, consistently, and persistently, effectively listen, and learn, from every conversation, and experience, in order to proceed, with genuine empathy, and with the proper, relevant emphasis! You can’t be leading, without addressing the perceptions, needs, goals, and priorities, of those, you should be serving and representing!

3. Attitude; aptitude; attention; action plan: One needs a positive, can – do, attitude, combined with a relevant aptitude, and skill – set, if he is to be able to pay keen attention, to what, is, most needed, and necessary! It’s never enough, to merely, make empty promises, and use rhetoric, when conceiving of, creating, and implementing, the best, most relevant, action plan, is indicated!

4. Needs; nerve; niche; nuances: Leading must be based on addressing relevant, sustainable, real needs, and a leader must have the nerve, to proactively, proceed forward, when lesser individuals, procrastinate, and fail to act! Every group is different, in certain ways, so, one must understand and address the specific niche, using whatever, nuances, may be needed, and necessary!

Are you ready, willing, and able, to conceive of, create, develop, and implement, the best – possible, PLAN, for the group, you serve and represent? Are you, up to the task?
