For the dedicated astronomer seeking a top-of-the-line instrument to advance their enjoyment in the hobby, the Orion EON 130mm Triplet ED Apochromatic Refractor fits the bill. This exquisite telescope features premium quality, but at a price that’s thousands less than that of comparably sized apos. We’ve updated the previous Astronomy Magazine Star Product award-winning design with an even more robust focuser, and streamlined the tube rings and dovetail bar. From front to back, this is truly an awe-inspiring telescope. The front features a three-element air-spaced lens set, with one element crafted from FK-61 ED glass for superb color correction and sharpness. 910mm focal length makes the EON 130mm a versatile telescope for both deep-sky and solar system imaging or stargazing with plenty of image scale for smaller targets and a moderately fast f/7.0 focal ratio. All lens surfaces bear antireflection multi-coatings for superior light transmission. Contrast is rich thanks to blackened lens edges and internal knife-edge baffles that prevent off-axis reflections. The EON 130mm Triplet features an extendable dew shield that helps ensures excellent contrast and inhibits dew formation. The focuser includes an Orion finder scope base for attachment of any Orion finder scope. The big focuser’s 2.5″ drawtube sports an engraved scale to aid in focus repeatability, and features a focus lock thumbscrew. Both the 2″ collar and the 1.25″ adapter feature non-marring brass compression rings, and a robust “twist-lock” style mechanism for securely clamping down onto the diagonal or camera nosepiece. The EON 130mm comes with tube rings, an 11.75″ Vixen-style dovetail plate, and a hard case. The tube rings feature multiple 1/4″-20 threaded sockets for attachment of accessories. The hard case is 37″ long, and the EON 130mm fits snugly inside with its dew shield retracted and slip-on lens cover installed.
Three-lens ED optics and moderately fast f/7.0 focal ratio work together to provide superb visual and astrophotographic performance
New and improved 2.5″ dual-speed (10:1) Rack-and-pinion focuser provides precise focus control as well as strong lifting capability for heavy cameras and accessories
A beautifully constructed, fully multi-coated triplet refractor telescope sure to impress any apo aficionado
Includes two split-clamp tube rings and a triple-latch hard case for protection during transport and storage
